I love Canada. The summer weather is spectacular, the people are kind (in most provinces), and… maple syrup, because it had to be said.
My visit to Toronto was long overdue. I had been to other areas of Canada, but when COVID-19 hit, my plans to visit Toronto were put on hold. Thankfully, here we are today.
I love a vibrant walkable urban city rich in arts and architecture, culture and diversity; complete with a waterfront harbor and the same electrical plugs as America and we’re in business.
I’m from Dallas, Texas; a place with zero water, unless it’s a stormy moment of flash flooding. So, any chance I can stay with a great view of the water (thank you Lake Ontario), throw in a bonus view of the iconic CN Tower, I’ll take it. If you feel the same, I highly recommend you check out the Radisson Blu Downtown Toronto. Click here for other Toronto stays.
The Radisson Blu had everything. On the other side of this photo are stunning views of Lake Ontario. You can lounge in a pool chair, or sit at a table and see all these different views. I was in Heaven. The breeze from the Lake and impeccable service where you can order food and drinks delivered to your lounger is where I found myself sitting as the sun went down and the city lights started to sparkle.
Getting Around Toronto
Getting out and about in Toronto is safe and wonderfully walkable (my preferred mode of transportation). There are wide sidewalks and efficient crosswalks, bike lanes, running lanes, and multiple modes of reliable public transportation to ensure your form of getting around the city is a breeze.
Shop Toronto
From the CF Toronto Eaton Centre, the Mink Mile, the Distillery District, Union Market, St. Lawrence Market and countless small shopping businesses along the way will make any shopping adventure satisfying. These were just the ones I checked out, but a simple shopping Google Map search will have little red pins popping up all over.

[I once heard a great travel idea – when you meet someone along the way who leaves a mark on your life in any way, big or small, ask them their favorite song and add it to your playlist. Every time you hear that song, you’ll remember them. While I love this idea and really need to start doing it, I’ve thought of something else…
As an introvert who hates small talk, I tend to have fewer, but more meaningful conversations. To those that make and/or leave a mark on my life are those with whom have shared heartfelt stories of happiness or sadness. The fact of the matter is – everyone is going through something. That being said, I want to know what cause is most important to someone and see, if in some small way, I can help.]
In Toronto, I met someone (let’s call them BFM), who’s life has been deeply impacted by Alzheimer’s.
